| Dr. Kirk, the principal at Kalista Scientific Laboratory, completed a Ph.D. in applied chemistry under the supervision of Dr's Ron Kydd and Peter Clark at the University of Calgary. He researched and developed highly successful procedures for the synthesis of fine chemicals through the novel use of modified clay and zeolite catalysts. Dr. Kirk spent two years as a postdoctoral research assistant at Alberta Sulfur Research Ltd. investigating catalysts for upgrading condensates, naphtha and diesel under mild and environmentally friendly conditions. He joined the hydrocarbon service industry in 1999 and spent 3 years at Trysol Canada Ltd. (later to become part of Enerchem International) as chemical researcher, technical sales advisor and laboratory manager. Here Dr. Kirk developed catalysts for upgrading and recycling various oil streams; developed test apparatus for oil and gas related projects and supervised the analytical testing of field samples in the oil laboratory. | |||
